For my post I decided to read chapter 5 in “They Say/I Say” By Gerald Graff and Cathy Birkenstein. This chapter is titles”And Yet: Distinguish what you say from what they say” and it explains the best methods to make sure that the reader understands the difference between your words and someone else’s words. It provides templates that can be used to distinguish the difference such as “Although X makes the best possible case for _______, I am not persuaded” (p. 72)  or “the evidence shows that_____” (73). These templates create a nice flow to one’s paper when agreeing/disagreeing with another person’s argument. I  feel that I have personally always struggled with this in my writing. Whenever I add someone else’s words it seems to make my paragraphs a bit choppy and confusing. Using these templates in my final essay helped me to create a better flow to my paper and add more quotes than I usually do .  Also, I feel that I have come up with a system of my own that makes my paragraphs the least choppy so being able to have multiple templates can add variety to my essays and the paragraphs won’t seem so repetitive. Lastly, because my paragraphs are always somewhat repetitive, I feel that that could bore my readers. So, these templates that this chapter in they say/ I say provide, will really help me with my struggle in  creating the difference between what I say in my paper and what someone else says.
